Entangled in my dreams
diffused on my skin
elusive as the morning haze in the forest
yet oppressive as those nights
that surround those who are lost
I cannot erase you from my soul
nor from my memories nor from my dreams
and every night, intangible yet so present
you still close your eyes over my pillows
you still rest your body upon my arms
and when I walk there's an invisible shadow
-dress with memories that cannot be evade-
that speaks softly to my inner desires
whispering that you are still here
walking behind me, holding me still
Knotted to what has been left
held by what I need to hold
your voice sings into my present
and you sights echo
those seized by my heart
But you are not here
and there is no calling
and like a river that flows errant
to be merged inevitable into the sea
my life runs out second by second
dying of hunger and drying by thirst
for that love that once was promised
but never kept to be fulfilled
